The App Store only shows updates for the OS you are using at the moment, in your case Yosemite 10.10.5.

If you want to go to another newer OS that is called an upgrade. This can be done through the App Store using the following link.

Check to see with the developers of any third party apps you use that there are updates available so they will continue to work in the new OS. Another thing you need to check is if any printers/ scanners etc you use have updated drivers and software so they too can continue to function in the new OS.

You could probably upgrade to macOS Sierra if your Mac qualifies, otherwise you will be able to update to
Kindle Update For Mac Yosemite 2017
Mac OS X El Capitan from here, Upgrade to OS X El Capitan - Apple Support Macos dynamic wallpaper for windows 10.
As both of these operating systems are a few upgrades newer than Mountain Lion you will need to prepare yourself.

Make sure you have enough RAM, 4GBs is minimum. Make sure third party apps you use now are supported under El Capitan or Sierra and have updates available, https://roaringapps.com/apps?platform=osx. Also make sure that any peripherals such as printers, scanners etc are supported under El Capitan and Sierra check with the manufacturers of these items for updated drivers / software etc.
